A Towering System
The STVG-999 is a great way to add some karaoke fun to your life. Two 7-Watt speaker towers deliver great sound, while the center control console gives you all the settings and inputs/outputs.
It's a breeze to set up and control, and a step up from more compact karaoke units--perfect for getting everyone in on the entertainment.
Seven-Inch Monitor
Front and center on the STVG-999's center console is a seven-inch video monitor. This displays the lyrics contained on CD+G karaoke discs for the performer.
The unit also features a small camera lens for its unique Karaoke Vision feature--lift up the lens to display your image on the monitor (or on a connected TV).
Wireless Microphone Included
Get into the performance without tripping over cables with the included SMM-107 wireless microphone, which features an on/off/standby switch.
Perform a duet by connecting two microphones. Volume and echo controls let you dial in just the right sound.
Video Input and Output
The STVG-999 features composite (RCA) audio/video outputs on the side of the center tower. Plug in another device to sing along on the STVG-999, or send the output to a TV so everyone can get in on the karaoke party.
When playing back CD+G discs (karaoke CDs with graphics of the lyrics included) lyrics will be displayed on your TV.
Auto Voice and Balance Controls
Auto Voice control lets you replace the original singer's voice with your own voice when any prerecorded, multiplex karaoke disc is played, and the Balance control lets you adjust the balance between the prerecorded original singer's voice and the music when using a multiplex karaoke disc. Leaving in the original singer is handy for learning new tunes or sparking your memory.
Built-in Echo
Enrich your voice with the built-in echo effect, which gives you anything from a little spice to a concert hall effect.
AM/FM Radio
You can't sing all the time. Not only can you just listen to your favorite CDs on the STVG-999, but you can tune into your favorite stations for entertainment programming or news/weather updates.
Of course, if you're feeling it, you can always flip on the mic and sing along with some radio tunes.

I bought this karaoke system for my daughters 10th birthday. It was suppose to be the entertainment for her birthday party. Thank goodness that we decided to give it to her the day before her party so that we could hook it up and figure out how to work it before her friends got here. After assembling it we plugged it in and turned the power on, it started to smoke immediately, my daughter started screaming and smoked filled up my living room within seconds. We didnt even get to put a cd in. Total disaster. Needless to say, I took it back to the store the next morning and got my money back. Called the company, left a message, and wrote an email, got no response to either attempt. Would not recommend this product. Thank god my house didnt burn down with it.

We purchased this at Costco last year for my daughter for Christmas. It was easy to set up. She has had soooo much fun with it! She is 11 (10 at the time) and LOVES to sing!! We do duets and laugh! It really is fun for the whole family!! Ours came with a couple of CD's that were just OK, but if you purchase the Karaoke discs that have the text, those work great and the words show up on the screen. This was truely money well spent. It is a whole year later and she still plays with it like the first day she got it!!

 "Great sound and features but at high volume product shuts off!!" 2009-10-10

This is really strange, because I bought this unit on sale from another vendor ($129) and like other reviewers state it turns off at higher volumes but I kept it anyways and here's why.

As a beginner drum student, I wasn't ready to invest in a drum set so I went with this tabletop model at a rock bottom price, comparing it to 5 other brands. My hope was that if I could get the knack of playing it after a few months, then I would consider upgrading to a full kit and hopefully sell it at an online auction for a fair price.

The first time I played along with one of the learning songs, I turned up the volume and the entire unit shut off! After some investigating, it turns out that if I turn the bass OFF, I can use it beyond a 4 volume, maybe up to a 6 on a good day. But with that bass on, the entire unit will always shut down whenever it reaches a 3 or 4 depending on how hard I am hitting the pads.

In the end, because of storage considerations and the fact that it does have a student mode, metronome and other features I have elected to keep it, deal with its defect and play it at low volume. I also took into account that just one snare practice pad runs around $20 or so, and a metronome another $25.

With all those reasons combined, I figured that it's still a good value for practice reasons, because returning it and finding another model for the same price or even a little more was not an option at the time of purchase.

In reading these reviews it seems that its a common defect, so buyer beware. I would still take my chance again and see if you end up with one that doesn't have this problem because it is a fabulous value.

Received this as a Christmas gift last year. It seemed pretty solid but then I tried to play it. First thing I noticed was that one of the drum pads wasn't attached properly, kind of flopping around. I took the palm of my hand and pressed it into place. Plugged it in and started to play. THE SOUND WAS GREAT! Much better sounding than Casio or even Yahama kits I've tried.

Then I realized I didn't have the pedals plugged in. Plugged them up, tapped the kick bass pedal twice and the whole thing shut itself off. I turned it back on, started to play, tapped the pedal........every time the same, turns itself off. Customer support for this product from Fender is pretty much non-existent.

This is a real shame. Fender lent their good name to this product. And it sounds great. And it's junk.

I bought this as a birthday gift to be given later. It was purchased in 12/08 and opened on 4/11/09. Upon opening the electronic drum set and setting it up, when the master volume is turned up past 4 and the bass drum pedal is applied it shuts down the whole unit. In my opinion this item is a piece of crap and amazon doesn't stand behind the products they sell. Buyer beware when dealing with amazon, if your not going to open the package within 30 days go elsewhere for your purchase. I can only imagine what kind of hoops you have to go thru to return an item within those 30 days.

the only bad experience was the purchase process, at the time of purchase delivery was quoted as 4 to6 business days, teo days later I received an email from Amazon stating that delivery would not take place until after Jan 15th 2009 orI could click on a link and cancel my purchase. I did that as it was a present, as soon as I get to the Amazon website, it said Icould not cancel because the order was no in process.
I beleive that by going to the cancel option, my order was activated an put on top of the list. this does not seem like good business parctice.

A great drum set for a good price. Only problem I have is that the touch sensitive is almost too sensitive. It would be nice if there was an option for turning it off. I bought the drum kit for the Fender name and I'm not disappointed with it at all. Sounds really good through the head phones and probably really good through an amp which I don't have as yet. Only reason not a 5 star is because of the sensitivity which some people may like.

Pros: I've spent quite a few hours with mini digital recorders. For the price, this one can't be beat. It records uncompressed audio with fairly good microphones. The 90-degree or 120-degree stereo pattern options, and the option to record all four microphones simultaneously, lend great flexibility. There are limiting and compressing options so that you never clip. Coarse and fine gain adjustments make it easy to set a wide range of gains. The handy tripod stand is, well, handy, as is the standard microphone holder adapter. I think the user interface is well though-out.

Cons: There is a maximum recording size which is a limitation, especially if you want to record 24 bit. Display is darkish and hard to read.

Wish: I wish there was a way to mark a spot on a recording on the fly, and then play back from the mark.

I was looking for a portable recorder, mainly to capture song ideas. I have always had a cassette recorder, and I have computer recording capabilities as well, but I wanted something I could just turn on when a song idea hit me. This little unit works great. I like the recording format and the sound quality is pretty darn good. The only thing I'm a bit iffy on is it feels like it would break rather easily. It has a little weight to it, so it seems like if it fell of the desk it would be ruined. I haven't dropped it, so I can't say for certain. Other than that cool product.

This recorder is everything i expected. I am a percusionist and a drum circle facilitator. I wanted an easy to understand simple little recording machine with good quality. On my very first try it took me just a few seconds to understand how to record and i recorded a drum circle with 35 djembes....wow...great sound quality..with the 4 microphones, in the middle of the circle you hear every thing.
I am not very techno so there are lots of functions that i am not using but with auto record it is so simple that a 55 year old child can use it hihihi

To record a recital is somewhere around $100 - $200 in Boston. With this device, we were able to get the exact same quality of a professional, thus paying for itself. The instruction manual is very thorough giving the user a sophisticated presentation of the correct uses and positioning of the product. It is capable of being placed in a mic stand giving you a chance at a perfect angle.

I would not recommend this prodct for anyone wishing to cut an album, but this would make a perfect demo CD for any aspiring musician or group. Also highly recommended for those that wish to record their practice as it gives much better sound quality thatn your standard recorder.

Superb sound quality for such a cheap and portable unit. My only gripe is that the menus and keyboard are fiddly and not very intuitive to use - the screen is tiny, and navigating the file system takes some practice (OK I am 47 yrs old, my teenage soon would have no problem!).

Recently, I purchased a beginner ukulele. While I am very pleased with the instrument and am having fun learning to play; it does need the occasional tunning. I am in my late 50's and have never played a musical instrument prior to this. I do not consider myself to be even musically inclined. Therefore, this is the perfect adjunct to my owning a uke. It is so simple to use. It clips right on the top. You don't even notice it being there. Whenever you want to check to see if you are in tune, you simply turn it on and pluck a string...simple. This is appears to be a very nice tuner - bright display, responsive, simple controls... very nice indeed. However, even though I ordered it new from Amazon, upon receiving it I immediately noticed scratches on the face of it, like you would find on a regularly used floor model. This is the first complaint I've ever had to make about something I've ordered on Amazon. Like I said, the actual tuner is brilliant, I'm just very disappointed that Amazon would ship me something in this condition labeled as "new". I will probably not return it because of the price of shipping. But, I wanted to add this caveat to anyone purchasing this product in the future.

Product is simple and functional, well suited for someone who is just getting started with Karaoke. Doesn't have any fancy features or functionality however still found it well worth the money (Sub-fifty dlrs).

Though no lyrics support is there one can download apps on iPhone or iTouch that will provide this functionality at almost zero cost. It didn't completely suppress the original vocals in all songs but was ok for 5-8 year old kids.

One can use this as a simple iPod speaker or in some occassions as a microphone-speaker combo for compering small home events like birthdays.

Overall if you have limited need and expectations then you will find this good value, if you need somthing fancy look elsewhere.

I bought this for my 5 yr old grandchild. I had my teens try it out as I was unsure if it would be ok for 5 yr old. The teens had a blast! Hooked the ps3 up to big tv recorded themselves and I didnt stop laughing for a couple of hours. The great thing is nothing else to buy! Plug in the mp3/ipod and sing along turn down the vocals as much as you want. I am sure the 5yr old will love it (she knows shes a star)although with the teens she wouldnt stand a chance with just one mic. I would buy another mic if it was for the teen though. It held up good with all the teens (5 of them) pulling and pushing for spotlight. My best buy I am sure this will be a hit!

I purchased this for my 8 year old's birthday, a little unsure if she would like it. She's had it now for two weeks and sings on it almost every day. She has a Sony walkman mp3 player and it worked perfectly with it. The echo is kind of neat, not real noticeable. We went ahead and bought another cheap microphone to plug into it so that both of my kids can sing together. The only negative, although minor, is that it may be meant for an older, or taller, child because she can't reach it even when it is lowered down as far as it can go. So she sits on a bar stool or stands on a chair which becomes her "stage". All in all it was everything we expected.

We bought this for our son for his 9th birthday and he LOVES it! He sings along with all his favorite songs and loves that he can plug his guitar into it too! So he would have rated it 5 stars for sure! His dad and I give it 4 stars just because the area for the ipod doesn't really serve it's purpose, you have to balance the ipod on there, but it works fine. The other thing is that volume could be a little better. You do have to make sure that the volume on the ipod is turned all the way up and that helps. We thought it was broken at one point and realized the ipod volume was turned down. Would we buy it again for him...for sure, he loves it!
